What is DOES?
DOES is the free social network connecting local communities. On DOES, users join their real-life neighbors, local governments, businesses, and organizations to stay connected with everything their community does.
What is DOES' mission?
DOES has a simple mission to connect communities.
Where did DOES come from?
Back in 2011, our founder Nick Winkler was looking for a way to stay in touch with his hometown of Downingtown, PA. There were lots of outlets and lots of neighbors talking, but no single place to get all of the news and information he and his neighbors were looking for. He had one simple idea, figure out a way to connect everything Downingtown does.
What started as series of hyperlocal websites eventually blossomed into a single platform connecting news and neighbors across one county and ultimately across the country in June of 2016. Through it all, the one constant has been the unwavering focus on the simple mission to connect communities.
What does DOES mean?
This is by far the most frequently asked question, and the answer is nothing. While we would like to say that the letters are an acronym for something really clever, the real story is that DOES simply came from our mission to connect everything a community does.
How to spell (and say) DOES?
First, it is pronounced [duhz], it is NOT plural of doe.
DOES is always spelled in all capital letters.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Downingtown Borough Finds Way to Connect Everything Their Community DOES
DOWNINGTOWN,PA - The Borough of Downingtown announced today that they are now on DOES, the free social network connecting local communities. DOES is a convenient, mobile and web application, allowing residents to connect with their real-life neighbors and directly to the borough for local news and alerts. In todays' fast-paced world, DOES gives users the ability to quickly and conveniently keep up-to-date with everything happening in the local area.
"We believe it's important for residents to know what's going on in the Borough and around the area. The DOES app allows us to have open dialogue with our residents, and more importantly, have one place where they can get everything local." said, Borough Manager Steve Sullins.
Through DOES, users will receive alerts, local news and information, and events provided by the Borough. Users will have other local news sources at their fingertips, an ability to communicate with their neighbors, and to search and review local businesses and organizations.
As part of the new partnership, the Borough and DOES recently collaborated on a community information guide that was mailed to Borough residents. The guide was a comprehensive publication that provided residents with Downingtown history, information on the various departments and services, a directory, and a large street map of Downingtown Borough.
"We are estatic to be partnering with Downingtown Borough in an effort to help them connect the Downingtown community," said DOES Founder Nick Winkler. "We know that being a part of a community takes more than just talking to people nextdoor. By utilizing DOES, the Borough is essentially giving their residents a pocket knife for everything local; one single platform to connect everything from local news to real-life neighbors."
Winkler went on to say, "We have received tremendous feedback regarding the community guide that was delivered to residents and we are pleased to be able to offer both a physical and digital way for Downingtown to stay connected. We look forward to expanding this type of partnership across Chester County and providing a place where neighbors can once again feel connected to their community."
DOES is free for all individuals and available on both Google Play and Apple iTunes. DOES is also available for public agencies, businesses, and organizations. For more information, or to register, download the DOES app or sign up at www.DOES.co.
